I give it 2 out of 4 because of my four guests, 2 thought it was OK and two didn't care for it. I wish so badly I would have liked this recipe. My guy was polite and ate half of it but was not overly excited about the dish. I had added garlic to add flavor but sadly, this dish was not a hit for us. With so many recipes out there, I am not sure I will make this again. With a couple of tweaks, this was super delicious and fairly healthy! I also went heavy on the dried herbs, like rosemary, thyme, and lots of sage. They both added a depth of flavor that I suspect wouldn't have been there without them. Like JMMEE, I also added mushrooms and sausage to the mix, and it was a great addition. I have never tried that and it was amazing! ![]() The Dijon is what brings this meal together. I also had some dandelion greens, so I mixed it with the baby kale. I used brown rice since I didn't have wild rice, toasted pine nuts instead of walnuts, added a little cayenne, and skipped the parmesean. Also, I added a sprig of rosemary, a bay leaf and 2 whole cloves to the rice water. Since some of the other reviews suggested there was not a lot of flavor here, I added thyme, marjoram, and sage to the oil as I sauteed the shallot. precooked and squeezed-dry spinach finely chopped. a few pomegranate seeds give it good color and a punch with each bite.Ī good amount of chopped fresh herbs from the garden are the perfect addition as are fresh or frozen greens, e.g.a sprinkle of pomegranate vinegar before serving gives the final dish brightness,.Extra Parmesan cheese adds a creamy richness,.and reduced chicken broth to intensify its flavor and moisten the entire mixture. ![]() I was encouraged by the reviews where modifications were made to add flavor. Lastly, I browned the seeds of the squash in butter, cinnamon, and salt and sprinkled them on top for a final touch. In addition to the shallots I added garlic and I also squeezed half the lemon on top of the finished dish. Like many other reviews said, I made some modifications. I thought this recipe was great! It was a big hit with my boyfriend as well. Served with a blueberry maple chicken sausage on the side and grilled okra with berbere spice. Toasted pinenuts, add a splash of lemon juice instead of zest, a dash of cayenne, and added a big handful of dry aged Parmesan. I added a Bailey about 10 sprigs of thyme, 2 cloves and a Bayleaf.
